How does Hydroxychloroquine (HCQ) Work to Stop a Virus from Making You Sick?
HCQ, usually taken at 200 mg every 12 hours for 5-7 days when sick, is a zinc ionophore, which means that it binds to zinc and pushes it into the virus cell. Some take one tablet per week for COVID prevention.
Once in the cell, HCQ interacts with internal cellular machinery and counteracts:
Golgi apparatus
Mitochondria
Parts that allow for DNA and RNA replication
In simple terms, HCQ stops the virus from the hijacking our human cells.
