There’s a FB group dedicated to jus apeel. I ask all the produce managers now. Also there’s an app called Bobby approved you scan just about everything. His name is Bobby Parrish and he hada YouTube channel. Good stuff!

They also Paint them Red to make them more attractive
Of course... and they cover them with inorganic materials so they last longer and don't spoil.
